Hackney Wick welcomed 90 Indian School of Business MBA students as part of the London Business School programme focusing on Global Strategy, Innovation and Entrepreneurship.
The theme was how to harness the power of the creative community through innovation and entrepreneurship.
The students learnt about the history and evolution of Hackney Wick & Fish Island as a hub for innovation, creative entrepreneurship, social enterprise and community action as well as how corporates can better engage and support a wider set of stakeholders and work effectively with local communities.
They left feeling inspired by fresh ideas and energy from independents and creative placemaking from a hyper-local perspective.
Speakers and hosts included Loughborough University London, LLDC, Hackney Bridge, Tapestry, 90 Main Yard, NotPla and Creative Wick.
Creative Wick has commissioned local artist Robert Shaer to create the sign for Fish Island Village, one of the new residential communities in Fish Island, being built by Peabody & Hill. Creative Wick was commissioned by Laing O’Rourke to design and run a 5 week program of innovative workshops for Gainsborough Primary School year 6 students that used art and design to introduce possible career opportunities in the construction industry.
