What We Do

We focus on supporting the local creative sector to demonstrate that creative placemaking leads to a stronger, more resilient and better-connected community.

Hackney Wick and Fish Island has an amazing variety and concentration of artists and creative practitioners. From filmmakers, musicians, illustrators and animators to architects and designers we are happy to provide access to the wealth of local creative talent for commissioned work.

Creative Wick provides young people with opportunities to develop their creative talent  through its film and music education projects whilst also providing paid mentoring opportunities for professional creative practitioners.

In 2015, Creative Wick ran the first Wick Development Forum and heard from 12 local organisations about their vision for a sustainable creative economy in Hackney Wick and Fish Island (HWFI). Now HWFI is a Creative Enterprise Zone (CEZ) and there is an opportunity to prove that Creativity Makes Places Better for everyone who lives, works and plays here.
